NXTGENWOOD

The NXTGENWOOD research program, financially supported by the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine (DAFM), is set to drive innovation across several domains. These include advancements in structural timbers, the development of eco-friendly adhesives and resins for bonding wood products like plywood and MDF, the extraction and synthesis of valuable biomaterials and biochemicals, and the creation of wood-based composites and biopolymers.

Researchers are engaged in the extraction and purification of platform chemicals from wood waste. In essence, it involves a sustainable approach where the byproducts of one process become the inputs for subsequent processes, creating a more efficient and eco-friendly utilization of wood resources.
