In collaboration with Prof. Rocco Lupoi, we have developed a MAPS (Metal Additive using Powder Sheets) process. This innovative approach replaces traditional metal powders in the conventional metal 3D printing process with powder sheets, which are based on the MAPS process that we pioneered.
In our ongoing project, PoSAddive (Powder Sheet Additive Manufacturing), we are developing and upscaling a novel disruptive metal additive manufacturing (AM) technology using flexible metal powder sheets. The powder material is attached using a newly developed binder technology, enabling local transfer by a laser beam to form a new structure layer-by-layer. This approach overcomes the problem of loose powder handling during production.
